Leadership Team

Ashley Kimball McGregor
Founder & Artistic Director

Ashley McGregor is the Founder and Artistic Director of North Bay Theatrics. A lifelong theater-maker and educator, Ashley grew up in a theater family and has dedicated her career to creating inclusive, empowering performing arts experiences for all ages.
She was crowned Miss Sonoma County in 2013 and received recognition in 2022 from the California Parks and Recreation Society for her volunteer service representing the City of Cotati. Over the past decade, Ashley has directed hundreds of productions and worked with thousands of students, teaching performers as young as two and as experienced as ninety-two.
In addition to directing, Ashley has written and premiered two original youth plays inspired by Alice in Wonderland and Peter Pan. These shows combine classical music with timeless stories and are carefully designed to ensure that every student is featured and has a chance to shine on stage.
Ashley’s philosophy is rooted in accessibility and belonging. Since the beginning of North Bay Theatrics, she has made it a priority never to turn a student away because of financial hardship. She believes theater is a powerful tool for connection, confidence-building, and creative expression.
Ashley also has a well-known love of dinosaurs, sparked by a behind-the-scenes video about the hydraulic T-Rex puppet from Jurassic Park. That fascination led her to restore a wooden dinosaur cutout, affectionately named “Curtis” by one of her students. Today, dinosaur props and “T-Rex dancing” are a fun and familiar part of NBT rehearsals, helping students stay playful, remember their choreography, and enjoy the process.
Based in Cotati, Ashley continues to grow North Bay Theatrics with a strong focus on community, creativity, and inclusion. Her favorite part of the job is watching students overcome challenges, build confidence, and make their families proud.
Kira Humes
Stage Manager & Director

Kira Humes thrives behind the scenes, bringing productions to life as a dedicated stage manager with a talent for lighting design. A graduate of Santa Rosa Junior College’s theatre program, Kira has worked on dozens of productions and continues to shine in both tech and student direction. She got her start as a young actor with North Bay Theatrics (formerly STAR Kids), and while her adventures have taken her across the globe, NBT has always remained a home base.
Kira currently leads the theatre programs at Brook Haven Middle School and Park Side Elementary, where she shares her love of storytelling, sharp eye for blocking, and backstage expertise with the next generation of performers. Whether she’s programming lights—like her recent work on Six: Teen Edition at the San Anselmo Playhouse—or stepping in last-minute to cover a role, Kira brings creativity, calm, and a can-do spirit to every project.
Some of her favorite productions include SpongeBob the Musical and Shrek the Musical, where she helped shape unforgettable moments both onstage and off.
